ON TAP This week…
We hope you enjoy your long weekend and have some time to enjoy a craft beverage. This is a shorty today because there is not a lot happening. Read on for details about events, releases and news for our local craft beverage scene for the upcoming week in the Northern Nevada region. Cheers!
About the photo: Shipwrights celebrating the launch of HMAS WARREGO at Cockatoo Island Dockyard (AU). It shows the custom whereby the shipwrights who had ‘railed up’ or readied the vessel for launch on the slipway were rewarded with a keg of beer. The barrel is on a stand outside a shed on Cockatoo Island.
This is the first time that we don’t have any dedicated craft events to talk about. There’s some shindig going on out in the Black Rock desert along with a meatfest in Sparks.
We have added a couple of new happenings to our EVENTS page! Just in case you wanted to plan ahead…
Quintopia Brewing Co. has released Ekuanot Cryo SMaSH hazy IPA. Ekuanot is the hop variety, and Cryo refers to the cryogenically refined nature of said hop creating a very concentrated sticky pellet that packs a lot of punch. SMaSH is a Single Malt (domestic pale 2-row) and Single Hop (Ekuanot) recipe, meaning t it is as simple as it gets. And, it’s hazy.
IMBĪB Custom Brews has released Balstraat Belgian Blonde. It is a collaboration beer with homebrewer Lance Newlin and is only available at the taproom and at Beefy’s.
It’s time for the annual release of Alibi Ale Works’ Contradiction Golden Mocha “Stout”. Contradiction is a beer with an identity crisis; it looks like a pale ale, drinks like a stout. This golden ale is brewed with oats and lactose that’s conditioned with loads of Coffeebar coffee, cocoa nibs and vanilla beans. A super creamy, golden-colored “stout” It’s on draft and available in cans at both taprooms!
Mellow Fellow of Truckee is now an official satellite taproom for Modern Times Brewing! 10 taps dedicated to a rotating selection of specialty beers and brewery only options from their Portland test brewery.
Call it the Midtown Mess if you please. Starting Tuesday, September 4th, Phase 1 of the RTC Midtown project will begin. Detours and land closures will be ongoing on Virginia street from Liberty to Plumb into spring of 2019 with more phases of construction to follow into June of 2020. Starting Tuesday, there will only be one south-bound lane open all the times. So why do we mention this? Given the past hardship on local businesses from the Prater, Glendale and 4th street projects, please try to make an effort to patronize your favorite Midtown establishment during this time even though it may be a huge PIA.
