A statement was posted Friday on the Reno Craft Beer Week Facebook page saying that the 2018 event was on a  “(Hopefully) Short Hiatus”. The statement cited “A myriad of issues, both personal and professional, are hindering the proper execution of this worthy event.”

Some events that have already been scheduled will still take place including Backwash on June 2 (Cancelled) and The Biggest Little Invitational on June 9, just not under the RCBW banner. Other local events will also be taking place as well. We will keep you up to date on our EVENTS page.

Here is the full statement:

Reno Craft Beer Week…Going on a (Hopefully) Short Hiatus

With much consternation and a heavy dose of reality, Reno Craft Beer Week is going on hiatus for 2018. A myriad of issues, both personal and professional, are hindering the proper execution of this worthy event. We wanted to let you, our loyal followers, know that we aren’t giving up just giving things another look at how we can present Reno and its craft beer scene in the best light and with the utmost of energy.

New ideas, new management, new dates are all on the table for 2019 as we look to increase sponsor value, draw more beer travelers and let the world know that Northern Nevada is a hotbed of fine craft beers with a knowledgeable craft beer culture that can only get better.

We will keep the RCBW Facebook page active, posting many of our local beer events. These include Backwash set for June 2 at Greater Nevada Field, supporting the Northern Nevada R.A.V.E. Family Foundation, and the inaugural Biggest Little Invitational taking place at Bartley Ranch on June 9.

Thanks for your understanding as we look to build a better Reno Craft Beer Week with a better infrastructure and greater overall support.

We did reach out to Mr. Vetter for additional details and comment but he did not respond to our requests. If you have any comments, hop over to our Facebook page and post your thoughts.

It also appears that some other events may be in jeopardy as well, as I have heard rumors that CanFest may not be happening in 2018 either.
